The Arizona Cardinals added depth to their cornerback room and bolstered their special teams unit. The team announced it signed former Minnesota Vikings cornerback Kris Boyd to a one-year contract.
Boyd was a seventh-round pick of the Vikings in 2019 out of Texas.
He is 5-foot-11 and 195 pounds.
In four seasons, he has mostly played special teams. Last season, he logged 403 special teams snaps, 82% of the Vikings’ total snaps for the unit.
He has had 29 special teams tackles in his career.
According to the Cardinals’ Craig Grialou, Boyd was the NFC’s top vote-getter for special teams last year, although he was not selected to the Pro Bowl.
He has played as many as 343 snaps on defense (in 2020), primarily as an outside cornerback.
In four seasons, he has 95 total tackles, three pass breakups, two forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries.
Right now, he probably is slated as the Cardinals’ No. 4 cornerback behind Marco Wilson, Rashad Fenton and Marco Wilson.
