Cardinals not named among teams interested in Chiefs CB L’Jarius Sneed

Kansas City Chiefs cornerback L’Jarius Sneed was one of eight players given the franchise tag before Tuesday’s deadline. However, he has been granted permission from the Chiefs to seek a trade.

According to USA TODAY’s Tyler Dragon, seven teams have expressed interest in trading for the cornerback.

That group does not include the Arizona Cardinals.

A person with direct knowledge of the situation told USA TODAY Sports that the Minnesota Vikings, Indianapolis Colts, Tennessee Titans, New England Patriots, Detroit Lions, Atlanta Falcons and Jacksonville Jaguars have expressed interest in the Chiefs corner. The person told USA TODAY Sports on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation.

It is speculated it would take a second-round pick to make a deal for Sneed, and then that team would have to pay him a deal worth $20 million per year or more.

Sneed has broken up 25 passes, picked off five, forced three fumbles and made 186 total tackles over the last two seasons.

He was great last season on zone coverage, something the Cardinals do a lot under head coach Jonathan Gannon and defensive coordinator Nick Rallis. According to Next Gen Stats, Sneed allowed no touchdowns and a league-low four yards per target while in zone coverage in 2023.
