Car 'ploughs into pedestrian barrier' in Edinburgh as man arrested

A car has allegedly ploughed into a pedestrian barrier in Edinburgh this evening, sparking an emergency response. The alleged incident took place shortly after 5pm on Lady Road, in the Cameron Toll area of the capital.

Mercy crews, including Police Scotland and Scottish Ambulance Service, raced to scene of the alleged crash. Photos show a black soft-top Audi comfortable with its front wheel on top of the barrier, which has been dented.

In another image, police tape can be seen cordoning off the section of road where the alleged smash occurred. Two police vehicles are parked on the opposite side of the road, according to Edinburgh Live.

Edinburgh Travel News took to social media to warn commuters that there were considerable delays for motorists travelling along Lady Road. It is understood no one was injured or hospitalised as a result of the alleged crash.

A 24-year-old man has since been arrested in connection with road traffic offences.
