Car flips onto roof and lands on pavement as Scots driver rushed to hospital

A driver has been taken to hospital after her car flipped onto its roof following a crash in Fife.

Emergency services raced to the scene of the horror one-car smash beside the Odeon cinema in Dunfermline at Duloch Leisure Park around 6.45am today.

An eyewitness said a man, who was first to stop at the scene, went to help the female driver who managed to climb out of the car, before calling mercy crews.

The young woman behind the wheel of the silver Volkswagen was raced to hospital to be "checked over".

Her condition is not yet known.

A photo of the scene shows a silver Volkswagen flipped over on its roof on a nearby pavement.

A bollard further down appears to be bent over, with debris and smashed glass on the ground behind the car.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers were called to a crash involving a single vehicle at Duloch Retail Park at around 6.45am this morning.

"The driver was taken to hospital to be checked over."
