A car has burst into flames after ploughing into a house near Fife. The dramatic incident took place shortly before 12pm today when a motor crashed into a home on Queensferry Road in the town of Rosyth.
Emergency services, including Police Scotland and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, sped to the scene in a bid to extinguish the flames and come to the aid of those involved.
Photos taken at the site, which were shared on social media, show the aftermath of the accident, with what appears to be a now-burnt-out red Vauxhall Corsa abandoned in the front garden of the property.
All the windows of the vehicle seem to have been be completely smashed, the wheels are destroyed and the front bumper has flown up, presumably due to the impact of the collision.
An electrical box has been ripped off the pavement, its wires exposed, and bushes have been mowed down, seemingly in the spot where the car entered the garden after veering off the road.
In another image, grey smoke can be seen billowing across the area, while at least two fire engines and ambulances are parked stationary nearby and an officer and a firefighter inspect the damage.
One man was treated at the scene by paramedics, although the extent of his injuries are not yet known. All mercy crews remain in attendance this afternoon and a cordon has been erected, with drivers urged to avoid the area.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a crash involving a single car which struck a building at the junction of Burney Place and Queensferry Road in Rosyth and subsequently caught fire around 11.40am on Tuesday, 23 August.
“One man has been treated at the scene by the Scottish Ambulance Service and emergency services remain at the scene.”
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson added: "We were alerted at 11.46am on Tuesday, 23 August to reports of a car well alight in a garden of a property on Burney Place, Rosyth.
"Operations Control mobilised 5 appliances and special resources to the scene to extinguish the fire and make the area safe."
