A woman in her 90s has died with COVID-19 bringing the death toll since the pandemic began in the ACT to 43.
This comes after three people died with the disease in the territory last week.
There were 41 people in Canberra hospitals with COVID in the 24 hours to 8pm on Monday, including five people in intensive care and two under ventilation. Previously, the ACT had 45 people in hospital with four in intensive care and two ventilated.
The ACT reported 918 new infections to 8pm on Monday. This takes the territory's pandemic case tally to 81,821. A total of 739 new cases were reported the day before as daily infections remain under 1000 for the fourth day.
The ACT now has 5471 active cases of coronavirus, down from the 5716 reported on Monday. Of the new cases, 389 were reported through PCR tests and 529 via rapid tests.
Data released by ACT Health shows the number of new daily infections per age group:
- 0 - 4: 57 (6 per cent)
- 5 - 11: 64 (7 per cent)
- 12 - 17: 92 (10 per cent)
- 18 - 24: 97 (11 per cent)
- 25 - 39: 291 (32 per cent)
- 40 - 49: 132 (14 per cent)
- 50- 64: 132 (14 per cent)
- 65+: 53 (6 per cent)
Fourth doses available for vulnerable groups
The first dose vaccination rate for children aged five to 11 has hit 80.4 per cent.
Meanwhile, fully vaccinated people aged over five make up 98.7 per cent of the ACT population with 73.6 triple vaxxed.
This comes as second boosters become available for vulnerable people across the capital. Eligible groups include: those 65 and older, Indigenous Australians aged at least 50, disability-care residents and the immunocompromised.

NSW has recorded 19,183 new COVID-19 cases and 12 deaths in the 24 hours to 4pm.
On Monday, the state reported 15,572 new infections and six lives lost.
There are 1467 COVID-19 patients in hospital, with 56 in ICU.
Hospitalisation numbers are up on yesterday, when 1418 patients were being cared for while ICU numbers remain steady at 56.
Of the new cases, 13,062 came from positive rapid antigen tests while 6121 came from PCR testing.
Victoria has reports 12,007 new infections to 8pm on Monday night with 339 people in hospital, 10 in the ICU and three on ventilators. There have been eight new deaths related to COVID-19 across the state.
Meanwhile, the Victorian government has swatted away calls to wind back COVID-19 isolation rules for close contacts without the backing of health experts.
Innovation, Medical Research and Digital Economy Minister Jaala Pulford on Monday dismissed a renewed push for the state to dump mandatory seven-day quarantine for close contacts of positive cases.
