Canada keeps study, work permit processing time unchanged for Indians; visitor, super visas take longer

Canada has kept processing times unchanged for study and work permit applications from India in its latest weekly immigration update, offering some stability for Indian students and workers planning to move to the country, according to a report by CIC News.

However, visitor visa and super visa applications from India are now taking slightly longer to process than a week ago.

According to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC), study permit applications from India continue to be processed in an estimated five weeks, unchanged from the previous update released on July 22.

Among major source countries, the Philippines remains the fastest at four weeks, while the United States and India are both at five weeks.

Work permit timeline unchanged

Processing times for Indian work permit applicants also remain unchanged at nine weeks.

Applicants in the United States continue to have the shortest wait at three weeks, while those applying from the Philippines face a six-week wait. Applications submitted from within Canada are currently taking 120 days.

Visitor visa processing for Indian applicants has increased slightly to 22 days, up from 21 days in the previous update.

Even with the increase, India continues to see quicker processing than IRCC's estimate for applications submitted from within Canada, which currently stands at 24 days.

Super visa takes longer

Among the countries tracked by IRCC, only the Philippines currently has a longer increase over the previous week, while applications from the United States remain unchanged at 124 days.

Indian parents and grandparents applying for Canada's super visa will now have to wait an estimated 52 days, compared with 49 days a week earlier. IRCC updates temporary residence processing estimates every week to indicate how long newly submitted applications may take under current workloads. These are estimates rather than guarantees and can differ from the department's service standards depending on application volumes, case complexity and operational capacity.
