Can this sculpting tool really tone your body?

The luxury tool is portable and cordless - (Magnitone)

The Diablo Pro is a body sculpting tool with massage, radiofrequency and EMS (electrical muscle stimulation) modes designed to tighten, tone and smooth skin.

The device features six heads that rotate at three intensity levels and can be used on the legs, arms, bottom and stomach, combined with “conductive” moisturiser. The experience of using it is underwhelming.

Other than the physical rotation of the heads, it doesn’t feel as though anything is happening. But there is something satisfying about it, like dry body brushing with added techy oomph – akin to using an electric toothbrush compared with a manual one.

But what about visible results?

Tech specs

  • Electrical muscle stimulation: 500–1000 microamperes
  • Radiofrequency: 1MHz
  • Deep mechanical massage: 120–170rpm

Magnitone Diablo Pro

★★★☆☆

Some of the statistics around the device — 80 per cent of users reported noticeably firmer skin after six weeks — are compelling. Others — “up to” 12 per cent noted visibly reduced cellulite after four weeks — are considerably less so.

This is almost certainly not going to “get rid” of cellulite. What it probably is going to do, if used diligently, is make your skin feel firmer and brighter.

Patience is required. The marketing is keen to stress it offers results in “just” 10 minutes a day, but that doesn’t sound all that quick. It’s more achievable if you think about how much time we spend staring at a screen.

When I could be bothered to spend the full 10 minutes on it, the process did start to feel a little (whisper it) mindful.
