'Can't you score against others?': Sunil Gavaskar's cheeky query to 'Mumbai boy' Yashasvi Jaiswal

NEW DELHI: Young Yashasvi Jaiswal, the dynamic Rajasthan Royals opener, shared insights into his remarkable success against his hometown team in a candid conversation with legend Sunil Gavaskar following his match-winning century against the Mumbai Indians on Monday.

Jaiswal's blazing innings of 104 not out off 60 balls powered the Royals to a commanding nine-wicket victory at Jaipur's Sawai Mansingh Stadium, reaffirming his prowess in the Indian Premier League.

However, it was his conversation with Gavaskar that shed light on the intriguing narrative behind his stellar performances against the Mumbai Indians.

During the post-match interview, Gavaskar, intrigued by Jaiswal's exceptional record against MI, posed a probing question: "Yashasvi! Sunil here. This is your second century against the Mumbai Indians. And you're a Mumbai boy. What is it that is making you score these hundreds against them? Can't you score these hundreds against others?"

To which Jaiswal gave a straightforward reply, offering a glimpse into his mindset and approach to the game: "Nothing. It's just that I think I am trying to do what I do well. Some days are tough, some days are good. And I was just playing. That's all. I didn't have anything in my mind."

Despite being a Mumbai native, Jaiswal's stellar displays against his hometown team continue to perplex and amaze cricket enthusiasts.

Jaiswal's on-field heroics further solidified his reputation as one of the most promising talents in Indian cricket. With his resurgence sparking discussions about his potential inclusion in India's squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup, Jaiswal's journey from Mumbai to IPL stardom adds another layer of intrigue to the cricketing narrative.
