The conversation has gained renewed attention after a report by the Times of India detailed how a woman with a chronic cough and internal bleeding finally found relief after her daughter consulted ChatGPT.
According to the report, multiple specialists had been unable to determine the cause of her symptoms. The chatbot asked whether the woman was taking a blood pressure medication that can trigger persistent coughing and, in some cases, contribute to complications. After her medication was changed, her condition reportedly improved.
Although the anecdote has fueled discussion about AI's potential in medicine, experts say individual cases should not be interpreted as proof that chatbots outperform physicians.
