Police hunting driver of camouflaged car who gave them the slip after crashing vehicle

The driver of a camouflaged Audi is being hunted by police in the wake of two police chases in the West Midlands over the weekend.

The Central Motorway Police Group (CMPG) said the car failed to stop for two patrols on Sunday night.

The vehicle later crashed and police said the driver ran off, the Birmingham Mail reported.

Police said they will be catching up with the motorist following the incident, which was posted about on social media this morning attracting scores of likes and shares.

Taking to Twitter, CMPG wrote: "This Audi failed to stop for two patrols this evening.

"His luck eventually ran out when he crashed and ran off. He kindly left us lots of clues to his identity, so will soon be speaking with us."

Many Twitter users were struck by the camouflage design of the runaway car.

One wrote: "Oh the irony of camouflaging your car so it stands out." Another said: "All I see are two wheels in the photo."

Another added: "How did you manage to see it? I thought that stupid camouflage wrap would make it invisible."

Another driver said: "I think this guy has taken driving in Birmingham's 'concrete jungle' a little too far."

In separate incidents, CMPG said that with the help of vehicle trackers their crews managed to recover a stolen caravan and a stolen Range Rover Sport.

The motorway cops - forming officers from West Midlands Police and Staffordshire Police - are responsible for stopping crime on the region's roads and making them safer.

They police the M5, M6, M6 Toll, M54, the Aston Expressway, the M42 and the A500.
