Hearts midfielder Cammy Devlin had Australia fans raving about his bravery after playing through the pain barrier with a gruesome head knock.
The Jambos star was given the nod to make his first senior start for the Socceroos in Tuesday's friendly with Ecuador and it wasn't long before the 24-year-old was in the thick of the action. After attempting one of his trademark no-nonsense tackles midway through the first-half, Devlin was caught accidentally by an opponent's knee and was left nursing a bloody head wound and it looked as though his first full appearance for his country was about to be cut dramatically short.
But medics quickly rushed to the field and quickly applied a thick bandage to Devlin's head – as he turned Terry Butcher – that allowed him to play on and seriously impress the Australian fans. Supporters reacted to the scenes on social media, with one saying: "I have a feeling Cammy Devlin with blood pouring from his head is going to be a cheat code. It will make him even better."
Another added: "If there was any Socceroos that will play on after losing two litres of blood it's going to be Cammy Devlin." And a third concluded: "That looks horrific! Impressive to come back from that by Devlin. Tough cookie."
Hearts fans will be hoping Devlin's wound is purely superficial, with Robbie Neilson back in Premiership action against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Saturday afternoon.
