Camilla named the Royal Navy ’s latest aircraft carrier after her husband the Prince of Wales yesterday.
Work on the ship was halted for the traditional ceremony at Rosyth.
Princes Charles watched as the Duchess of Cornwall smashed a bottle of Laphraoig whisky against the 65,000-ton carrier which is due to start sea trials in 2019. She said: “I name this ship Prince of Wales. May God bless her and all who sail in her.”
The ship is the seventh in the Navy to bear the name. The last sank in World War II after two years in service.
