Cameron Carter-Vickers has handed Celtic a boost ahead of pre-season, being snapped by excited fans looking in good shape.
The American international was a rock for Ange Postecoglou's side, who under his command steered themselves to a domestic Treble last campaign. But form was rocky in the final few hurdles with Carter-Vickers unavailable due to an injury. The Aussie at the time reckoned his prize asset required surgery as the likes of Yuki Kobayashi and utility man Tomoki Iwata stepped in to partner Carl Starfelt.
Now Brendan Rodgers' squad are jetting off for pre-season, and the 25-year-old is part of the group heading out to Portugal ahead of their Champions League assault and a fresh title tete-a-tete with Michael Beale and Rangers. Fans may have feared the centre-half would miss some crucial curtain raising games next month, but the former Spurs man was snapped before his flight without any protective gear and looking in good spirits.
There has been no official word, of course, on Carter-Vickers injury status, but the USA man bravely fought through the Hoops' Old Firm Scottish Cup semi-final victory before having surgery on his knee.
He told CBS in May: “The knee is as good as it can be, I got surgery last week. I’m just rehabbing from that and it’s still early days so it’s hard to put a timeline on it at the moment. But I’m positive about it and I’m sure I’ll be back as soon as possible.”
