Cambuslang Rangers co-boss Billy Campbell has warned his side will need to be on top form if they are to shock giants Auchinleck Talbot on Saturday.
Camby head to Beechwood Park on the back of a 2-2 draw at home to Largs Thistle, with Grant Brennan and on-loan Albion Rovers attacking midfielder Ryan Devine equalising for the hosts to snatch what was a deserved point, according to Campbell.
The uplift in performance comes off the back of their 7-0 hammering by Beith on Hogmanay, however Campbell know their will need to be significantly better again this week as they head to one of the bigger names in the West of Scotland Premier Division.
Talbot are seventh, but have at least three games in hand to teams around them, and are likely to climb much higher.
Campbell hopes to cause problems for them, but says at the very least his side can learn from the experience.
He said: “Auchinleck are a quality team. In each and every game in this division you’ve got to turn up – if you’ve got even three or four off their game on the day you’ll get beat, and that’s the reality.
“We need to make sure each and every one of them is giving us a top performance or we’ll struggle.
“We had probably four or five out on Saturday, with regards to suspensions, and we’re looking to have another four bodies back this week, so that gives us a bit more scope in terms of selection.”
Brennan netted with a rocket for Camby’s first goal, while Devine scored a well-worked team goal with a pass from Scott Anson, but Campbell felt their performance was lacking.
“Overall a draw was probably fair, but I’m disappointed, because we didn’t play well,” he said.
“The park was heavy, but we created three real clear-cut chances in the first 25 minute and should have been a couple up.
“We went 1-0 down, the boys managed to claw it back with a great wee finish from Grant, then not long after getting back in the game we lost another one.
“We managed to get back in, and the boys worked hard, their work-rate was spot-on, but from a performance perspective it wasn’t our best.
“We’ll take a draw, it was probably a fair reflection on the game – but we did have the chances in the first half and we should have been ahead.
“We’ve played better, but we can do with the points.”
