Cam Norrie and Rangers-daft dad invited to Ibrox after Wimbledon third round win

Cam Norrie and Rangers-daft dad invited to Ibrox after Wimbledon third round win

CAM NORRIE and his Rangers-daft dad have been invited to Ibrox by the club after his Wimbledon third round triumph.

The British No1 progressed past Steve Johnson to qualify for the round of 16 at Wimbledon today.

Norrie, 26, cruised into the next round with 6-4, 6-1 and 6-0 scorelines to advance in an impressive Centre Court showing.

And following the win, Rangers invited Norrie and his Glasgow-born father to Ibrox to watch a match in the upcoming season.

A club tweet read:  "Congratulations @cam_norrie.

"We would love to welcome you and your Dad to a game at Ibrox this season."

Norrie Snr, David, is a huge Rangers supporter but admitted watching his son play is far more nerve-wracking.

He told The Scottish Sun: “Watching Cam is ten times worse!

“The Rangers pain can be shared over many thousands of people!

“I’m really not a great watcher of tennis when Cam is playing.

“I get nervous. It will be lovely to see him walk out on Centre Court, it will be great. But Judy Murray said something like watching your son or daughter play tennis is a combination of giving birth and root canal treatment!

“I certainly don’t find it that pleasurable. I enjoy it, but through gritted teeth.”
