We’re still in talking season, and as such, the biggest news this time of year typically comes from big-name personalities making very bold statements. Cam Newton declaring Lamar Jackson the greatest dual-threat quarterback of all time fits that bill.
Newton, the NFL’s all-time leader in rushing touchdowns by a quarterback and second all-time in QB rushing yards, was asked by the host on his YouTube channel (“The 4th and 1 Show”) if he considers himself the greatest dual-threat quarterback of all time.

Newton immediately said it was Lamar and then proceeded to explain why.
“Lamar’s style is a little different than mine- he’s a big play, and play. He’s got speed that I never had, and he’s just electric,” the three-time Pro Bowler said.
“I played the game more powerful. I could run, but I’m probably going to get caught. Lamar, he ain’t getting caught.”
Jackson already has the record for single-season rushing yards by a quarterback: 1,206 (2019). He’s rushed for 5,258 yards in six seasons, good for an average of 876.3 yards per season.
He only needs 374 more rushing yards to pass up Newton, and with 852 more yards, he’ll take over the number-one slot from Michael Vick.
