Callum Wilson and Michail Antonio agree over 'unreal' Liverpool advantage

Premier League forwards Michael Antonio and Callum Wilson have agreed that Liverpool produce the best atmosphere of any Premier League side.

A number of sides over the years have fallen victim to the power of Anfield over the years, with Barcelona's 4-0 defeat serving as a memorable example of what can be achieved when the opposition become overpowered by the unwavering support of the home supporters.

Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster recently revealed that he has known team-mates over the years that have faked injury to avoid playing at the home of the Reds, and plenty of others have been taken aback following their visit to L4.

Wilson and Antonio are two players who have made the trip to Anfield in the top-flight, with the former representing both Bournemouth and Newcastle and the latter lining up for West Ham United.

Backing up the commonly held view that Liverpool outshine any other club when it comes to noise generated on matchdays, the Premier League duo have become the latest stars to recognise the impact this has on matches played on Merseyside.

“In terms of atmosphere, it’s going to have to be Anfield," Wilson told the Footballer’s Football Podcast when asked to pick the best stadium to play in for atmosphere.

He continued: "When the Kop sing You’ll Never Walk Alone you get goosebumps and things like that and you get more energy from that. In my mind I want to score in that atmosphere and take in that atmosphere. I enjoy calming it down and being a villain in a stadium like that.

"Fortunately, I have scored in front of the Kop and given them the celebratory salute as you do. We didn’t win the game, but it was a nice moment on a personal level."

Antonio added: “For atmosphere, I have to agree with you.

"The Kop, once they start singing and you’re playing, it’s like they’re sucking the ball into the net. It’s unreal how they manage to lift their players and it feels like the ball is being sucked into your net.

"The last two times we’ve been there we’ve played well, but we’ve never won there since I’ve been at West Ham. I’m hoping that, one day, we will."
