Helen George has dropped a career bombshell with the news that she missed out on a major movie role, before finding fame on Call The Midwife.
Helen is one of the most recognisable faces on British TV, thanks to her on-screen alias Trixie Franklin being at the heart of the action in Nonatus House and establishing herself as a real favourite with Call The Midwife fans.
After some time away from the hit BBC drama, Helen made an eventful return in the Christmas special, as Trixie arrived back in Poplar to be proposed to by Matthew. And then, in the most recent episode of Call The Midwife's new series, which aired at the weekend, Trixie and Matthew were separated as she was locked down in the maternity ward following an e-coli outbreak.

Helen has undergone a recent transformation from blonde to brunette as she joins the cast of The King of I stage revival as Anna and, she has also revealed she once auditioned for another iconic role - Sophie in the hit movie musical Mamma Mia.
Helen debuted her new hair do during an appearance on This Morning and when quizzed on her career to date, told hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary: "I've done a lot of auditions in my time. I remember auditioning for I think it was Mamma Mia, I think it was the film, and there was a very scary dance studio…"
"And they did this choreography and I was like, 'Oh yeah, I kind of got it'. It was a really hot day, they left the doors open and I literally pirouetted out of the room, I just pirouetted myself out of a job!"
