Helen George has received the firm backing of Call The Midwife fans after showing off her drastically different new look on Instagram.
Helen has played a pivotal role in the much loved BBC drama for years now, with her character Trixie Franklin returning to Poplar for last year's Christmas special and then proposed to by other half Matthew. Trixie then had an eventful time of things in series 12, which came to an end in February, when she desperately tried and failed to save Matthew's dad's life, after he collapsed in the couple's bathroom.
Trixie was then involved in a hard-hitting teenage pregnancy storyline, before tragedy struck on her and Matthew's wedding day, when an expectant mother was killed after a car crash, with Dr Turner rushing to deliver the unborn child. Call The Midwife is going to return for at least another two series, with series 13 set to be preceded by another festival episode in December.
And, before she returns to the Call The Midwife set, Helen is busy in a very different role - as Anna in the theatre revival of The King and I. Helen her career move at the start of this year, describing it as 'a dream come true.' Helen has showcased her new look on a number of shows and, as she posted a photo of herself and her daughter, her new look got a big reaction from her many followers, causing a bit of a difference of opinion.
Making their feelings clear, one follower replied: "You’re so pretty but I prefer you blonde," with another writing: "Please go back blonde Helen. I'm a hairdresser and I really think blonde suits you better"
While plenty praised her new hair do, other fans also rushed to defend Helen, taking aim at those who criticised her new brunette do, with one commenting: "All these people saying "I love you blonde, go back blonde!" #1, have you ever thought it might be for a role? and #2, it's rude!"
