Call of Duty has finally revealed the release date of their upcoming movie, and it’s releasing in theatres on June 30, 2028.
CoD makes its jump to the big screen, with Paramount Pictures and Activision officially confirming their live-action feature film a little over two years from the time of writing.
Peter Berg is the director of this film, who was also the person behind directing action and war hits such as Lone Survivor, Deepwater Horizon, and Patriots Day.
He has co-written the script alongside Taylor Sheridan, the mind responsible for crime and action thrillers such as Yellowstone, Sicario, and Wind River. Berg and Sheridan are producing alongside David Glasser and Rob Kostich, Activision’s President.
Do we know what the Call of Duty film will be about?
Plot and cast details are yet to be revealed. The studio says the film is designed to deliver everything that the Call of Duty fanbase already loves about the franchise, while also pulling in audiences who’ve never touched a controller in their life.

So, judging by the games released so far and the minds involved in this project, we can expect big action, grounded military storytelling, and the kind of tension that the franchise has always done well. If you needed any context for just how massive this deal is, Call of Duty has crossed one billion players over its lifetime and has pulled in more than $35 billion in revenue across its run of over two decades.
It’s one of the most commercially successful entertainment properties on the planet at this point. That kind of cultural weight makes the film adaptation one of the most anticipated Hollywood projects in recent memory.
Why the release date makes sense

June 30, 2028, puts the CoD movie squarely in the heart of the summer blockbuster season, the same slot major action and franchise films have historically competed for. With Berg and Sheridan on board, the buzz around it is only going to grow as production moves forward.
There’s still plenty of time before release, and no casting announcements have been made yet. But for a franchise this size, with talent like this attached, the film is already one of the most interesting things happening in gaming entertainment right now.
