A Stockton, California, mother is asking for help as in-store surveillance footage shows a man touching her inappropriately as she shopped for shoes with her young child at a WSS shoe store in the city. Social media response to the viral clip suggests it may have been a coordinated attack.
So far, Stockton police have not commented on the situation. But several social media posts from the Stockton area report that the woman contacted store security. As the clip shows, the woman is bent over in an aisle of the store, helping her child try on shoes, when a man wearing a black knit cap passes by her, but doesn’t touch her.
A short time later, another man wearing a bright red sweatshirt enters the aisle, and according to the woman in voice-over in one of the clips, makes eye contact. He then proceeds to exit the aisle before the first man in the knit cap returns, and again exits the aisle as the woman moves out of his way.
In the background, the red-sweatshirted man seems to be circling the aisle, and eventually, he returns. This time, he blatantly pushes his groin against the woman’s backside as he passes by, telling her, according to the woman’s voiceover, “Excuse me, my bad.”
As the woman explains, WSS store security provided her footage that showed the man in the red sweatshirt in a white SUV outside the store, but with no license plate visible. She says she’s sharing the footage to help identify him.
Were the knit cap and red sweatshirt working together?
As the clip spread, social media noticed the two men seemed to be working together. One comment said, “The other guy was gone do it too, but he second guessed himself, ain’t nothing fly about nothing they plotted that day, & the fact the other brother in red went thru wit it is sick
.Both of them probably talked about doing that to women that come in the store.”
Another suggested it may not have been sexual, but he may have tried to steal her data. “They have devices now if they are close enough to your phone or even credit cards it can steal the information!!!!!!” the comment said.
Another comment noted incidents like these aren’t uncommon. It said, “When I’m at a store I always move over to the edge, I don’t trust no one behind me, and my bf taught me to never bend down that way always use my knees if ima go low.”
Another said, “If this your friend CALL THEM OUT ! In front of her own kids? This is such a violating feeling. Disgusting. Not only do we ALL need to hold men like this accountable but MEN NEED TO HOLD MEN ACCOUNTABLE.”
