Leaders of the southern California city of San Clemente, located about halfway between Los Angeles and San Diego, are partnering with US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to place surveillance cameras along the city’s beach to detect boats carrying passengers attempting to enter the country without authorization.
At a Tuesday gathering of the town’s city council, members ordered the city manager, Andy Hall, to begin coordinating with CBP.
