Caleb Williams transferring from Oklahoma to USC

The top two quarterbacks for Oklahoma in 2021 are going to be playing for different USCs in 2022.

Caleb Williams announced Tuesday he will play for Lincoln Riley at Southern Cal, taking advantage of the transfer portal to take his talents to the West Coast.

The move came weeks after Spencer Rattler, the preseason Heisman favorite in 2021 at Oklahoma, announced he was going to play for South Carolina going forward.

“I wanted to go somewhere I thought would provide me with the best development both on and off the field,” Williams told ESPN. “… Getting to know Coach Riley and gaining familiarity with his offense definitely played a part in my selection, as well as already knowing some the guys on the team.”

Williams threw for 1,912 yards and 21 touchdowns as a freshman for OU. He replaced Rattler during the regular season.

“I want to get to work right away, earn the trust of my teammates, win championships and help bring USC back to being a top-rated program,” Williams said.

At USC, Williams will be coached by Riley, who shocked people by bolting the Sooners for the Trojans at the end of last season.
