A martial arts world champion left a thief who tried to break into his home covered in blood after launching a brutal hammer attack.

Chris Shaw, an IMF Muay Thai champion who has also fought numerous MMA bouts, also left George Halliday with a broken nose and unable to see properly.

Shaw was in bed when addict Halliday – who once stole an ambulance used to ferry ill children to hospital – tried to break into his home, the Daily Record reports.
