Food isn’t usually the first thing that comes to mind when you think of being mindful. The hashtag for mindfulness has over 32 million posts on Instagram, the bulk of which are inspirational quotes to boost positivity.
A confectionery giant making wellness part of its strategy might seem weird, but this is exactly what Cadbury have done.
Cadbury is jumping on the wellness wagon by persuading chocoholics to exercise portion control and eat only part of the chocolate.
As reported in the Daily Mail, chocolate chiefs at Cadbury’s are urging fans of chocolate to eat just half the bar and leave the rest for later.
It is hoped new resealable packaging will encourage healthier snacking and a more mindful manner of enjoying chocolate.
Cadbury’s will be rolling out the ‘memory tech solution’ in its twin-bar Duo range. This means fans of Dairy Milk, Wispa, Wispa Gold, Double Decker and Boost will be able to twist and seal their part-eaten chocolate bar to prolong the sweet treat for later.
It is Cadbury’s aim to encourage more healthier lifestyle choices through mindful snacking to ultimately help consumers balance their calorie intake.
Parent company Mondelez International said the seal would keep the chocolate in its optimum state by not affecting texture or flavour. The cost or size of the 80p range which varies between 47.4g and 74.6g, depending on the bar, will remain unchanged.
Brand manager Kelly Lawrence said: “We want Cadbury fans to be able to snack in a more mindful way, and we are excited to see what they think of this new product.
“Duos twist and seal are a great option for when you want to indulge in a sweet treat and then easily reseal and save the remainder of the product for later. Or, if you’re feeling extra generous, why not share with friends and family."
