Waitrose is delighting shoppers with an early Easter treat by stocking a giant bag of Cadbury's Mini Eggs weighing a whopping 1kg. The news has been met with joy by fans of the sugar-shelled chocolate eggs, driving a surge of interest on TikTok, as people head to the supermarket in search of good value.
The giant 1kg Mini Eggs bag appears to be a massively popular product on social media. It has already amassed over 252 million views on TikTok alone, including this viral video from TikToker, Abbie SK, which has garnered a staggering 3 million views and 11,800 comments.
Another TikTok user who shared her Mini Egg find is Nicky Newman. She summed up her joy in another viral video which has hit over 806,000 views and over 3,100 comments with a simple caption saying: "My life is made”.
Social media is alight with foodie fans of Cadbury Mini Eggs. Cat Hollow whose TikTok bio reads 'All about the food' and goes by TikTok handle foodobsessedgirl1.0 said: “Checks if Waitrose is still open immediately”, while a user by the name of Shell joked: “I love how the manufacturers assume we’re going to share these bags…”
It wasn’t just the volume that surprised viewers. A regular sized bag weighs 80g and sells for £1.25 at other supermarkets, rendering the £10 bag from Waitrose to be a cheaper option, as the cost works out to be just £1 per kilo.
Jane Goodson, Waitrose chocolate buyer, said: “Mini Eggs are so good that we see them flying off the shelves from January. And this year we’ve eggcelled ourselves, by introducing our biggest bag ever.
“Whether they’re being gifted for Easter, or simply a long-lasting option for those looking to treat themselves, these eggs are a certified hit. Stocks are limited though, so get cracking!”
Waitrose’s own Partners have been getting in on the celebrations too, including the team in Christchurch, Dorset, whose update has already racked up 819,000 views. For those who fancy getting creative with their purchase, Waitrose has also added a host of Mini Egg recipes to its website, including Easter egg popcorn bites and a showstopping Mini Egg Cake, fully adorned by the chocolate treats.

Waitrose say searches for the recipes are also rocketing, with the popcorn bites increasing by 500% over the past month, whilst clicks to the Mini Egg Cake recipe have jumped by 331%. A further recipe for Easter-tiffin saw traffic up by 221% in the same time frame.
Jane Goodson added: “While baking with Mini Eggs traditionally required some serious willpower, the beauty of this new bag means there’s plenty for the chef and the recipe alike.”
