Jets linebacker C.J. Mosley was named a finalist Thursday for the Art Rooney Sportsmanship Award. Mosley is one of eight players in the running for the honor.
Similar to the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award — the award defensive tackle Solomon Thomas is a finalist for — each team had one nominee for the award. A panel of former players from the NFL Legends Community cut the list from 32 down to the final eight.
The award is given annually to the player who best demonstrates on-field sportsmanship, including fair play, respect for the game and opponents, and integrity in competition. The award is named after the late Art Rooney Sr., the founding owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The eight finalists are:
Jets LB C.J. Mosley
Raiders DE Maxx Crosby
Chargers LB Khalil Mack
Ravens OG Kevin Zeitler
Cardinals S Budda Baker
49ers FB Kyle Juszczyk
Cowboys QB Dak Prescott
Seahawks LB Bobby Wagner
The finalists will be listed on the Pro Bowl ballot under the NFL Sportsmanship Award category. The winner will be announced during NFL Honors the week before Super Bowl LVIII.
