Dublin drivers are facing a major change from Monday as the North Strand Road inbound and Annesley Bridge Road will be shut to all private cars.
The closure, which is being implemented to facilitate the construction of a new Clontarf to city centre cycle path, is expected to last until early 2024. It will not affect buses, taxis, cyclists or any outbound traffic. From Monday, drivers will be diverted at Fairview Strand, down Ballybough Road and along Portland Row, before re-joining the North Strand Road at Five Lamps.
Construction on the Clontarf to City Centre project began in March this year and when completed, it will provide 8km of walking, 6km of cycling facilities, and 5.4km bus priority infrastructure from Clontarf Road at the junction with Alfie Byrne Road, to Amiens Street at the junction with Talbot Street. It is expected to cost roughly €62.5m.
