Thai League 1 champions Buriram United extended their lead to four points after defeating closest rivals Bangkok United 1-0 on Sunday night.
Suphanat Mueanta scored the winner for the Thunder Castle after nine minutes at Chang Arena.
Buriram bounced back after they were held to a 1-1 draw by lowly Khon Kaen United last week.
After 11 games, Buriram have 27 points, ahead of the capital side and Chonburi who both have 23 points.
Buriram sat back to defend the lead after surging ahead and Bangkok United coach Aurelio Vidmar was not impressed by their tactics.
"We were the only team which tried to play football [after Buriram opened the scoring]," said the Australian.
Buriram coach Masatada Ishii hailed his defence which neutralised the Angels' lethal strike force led by Brazilian forwards Heberty Fernandes and Vander Luis.
"Although we did not attack them much, our defence handled their attacks well," said the Japanese coach.
He shrugged off Vidmar's criticism, saying the most important thing in a match is getting three points.
Smith named BG coach
BG Pathum United have appointed Australia's Matthew Smith as coach, the Thai League 1 side said.
Former BG player Smith replaces Japanese Makoto Teguramori who was sacked last month.
The 40-year-old Australian played 120 times for Pathum from 2015-2018.
