A burglar complained to police that he "didn't even get to taste" the booze he'd stolen from a city centre pub.
Brazen Steven Elliott was captured on CCTV breaking into the Blonde Barrel, in Newcastle, twice within an hour and fleeing with bottles of alcohol. But the police were soon at the scene and located the bags of stolen drinks before also finding the 29-year-old nearby, a court was told.
The thief, who has 37 offences on his record, was arrested and admitted during interview that he'd been "daft and pathetic" and moaned that he "didn't even get to taste" the booze he'd taken, prosecutors said. Instead, his fruitless offending landed him before magistrates in Newcastle, where he pleaded guilty to burglary of a non-dwelling.
