Burger van offers reward to first person able to complete its 2ft long mega sandwich challenge

A burger van owner is offering a reward to the first person able to complete its mega 2ft long sandwich, which has been deemed "unbeatable" by previous customers. Richie's Snack Bar is known for its meaty burgers, specials and popular challenge that's not for the faint-hearted.

The mighty challenge, called Richie's Length, contains five rashers of bacon, five sausages, five cheese burgers, ten eggs, ten black puddings and mushrooms in a 2ft long bap - enough to give anyone the meat sweats. The challenge costs £20 and must be completed in 45 minutes.

Richie Davies, 36, was always a fan of burger vans when working as a local plumber and in 2017, he decided to open up his own business in Aberdare. He said the challenge was created six years ago and has been unbeaten in the last three years.

He added: "When I set up the burger van, I wanted to create something different - go big or go home." He said that over the last few weeks, the mega sandwich challenge has "been blown out of the water" and saw around 30 customers attempt the challenge in the last two weeks.

Richie said he managed to eat his mega sandwich when he first created it and thinks he has a chance of completing his own challenge when he's not too busy cooking up a feast for customers. He added: "We've had loads of people come in the last two weeks to try the challenge since its blown up, its been mental. We used to have people try it once or twice a month but since it's blown up, I've done about 30 of them in the last two weeks. - it's absolutely bonkers."

Richie's Snack Bar's customers have also been tagging competitive food eaters to attempt the challenge, from the likes of BeardMeatsFood to the former world's strongest man, Eddie Hall. Richie added: "I'd love to have Eddie here - that would be brilliant."

Richie said that he created the sandwich full of the ingredients he likes. He said: "I went off something that I like and what I thought in my eyes couldn't be defeated, but I do believe that there is someone out there who could do it (again)." Richie is now offering a £50 reward to the first person who comes down to his burger van and completes the challenge in 45 minutes.

To complete the challenge, visit Richie's Snack Bar, Robertstown Industrial Estate, Wellington St, Aberdare CF44 8HD. For more information, go here.
