Bukayo Saka and Aaron Ramsdale set to rejoin Arsenal training this week after England’s World Cup exit

Bukayo Saka and Aaron Ramsdale are expected to rejoin Arsenal training this week after England were knocked out of the World Cup.

England lost 2-1 to France in their quarter-final on Saturday and the squad flew back home from Qatar on Sunday.

Saka and Ramsdale are due to return to Arsenal by the end of this week, with Brazil forward Gabriel Martinelli and Japan full-back Takehiro Tomiyasu also expected back.

Arsenal are back in action on Boxing Day when they host West Ham in the Premier League. The squad is currently in Dubai for some warm-weather training and the Gunners face AC Milan in a friendly on Tuesday, after beating Lyon 3-0 last week.

Granit Xhaka flew straight to join the squad after Switzerland were beaten in the last-16 of the World Cup last Tuesday, but he was given a few days off by Arsenal. Xhaka has spent time with his family, who flew to Dubai to see him.

The midfielder could rejoin training in Dubai, though, and get some minutes under his belt before Arsenal host Juventus in a friendly at Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

Arsenal have created a bespoke training schedule for players returning from the World Cup and they will not rush anyone back.

Ben White, Matt Turner and Thomas Partey all returned to training over the weekend after being at the World Cup. White left the England squad on November 30 due to personal reasons.
