The January transfer window can be a minefield but if Manchester United need any further encouragement to enter the market in the New Year then they will find it in their own dressing room.
United's football director John Murtough is always a voice of caution when it comes to mid-season deals and there's no doubt it's a window to avoid where possible, but circumstances might force a change in approach at Old Trafford this season.
As recently as September Murtough was telling United supporters not to expect another window like the one just gone, when they spent £225million, and that "as always, our planning focuses on the summer window."
