Bruno Fernandes escapes serious injury in car crash ahead of Manchester United derby with Liverpool

Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes has escaped serious injury after reportedly being involved in a car crash on Monday morning.

The Portuguese midfielder was nonetheless able to train ahead of his team’s derby with Liverpool on Tuesday evening.

All parties involved in the crash emerged relatively unscathed.

Pictures emerging online after the crash showed Fernandes stood by his Porsche, which appeared to have only minor damage on the front-right corner.

A Volkswagen 4x4’s front-left wheel is caved in, as another image shows, with the airbags having gone off in the vehicle.

Interim United boss Ralf Rangnick said on Monday afternoon: “He was training with the team obviously the accident happened on the way to Carrington.

“As far as I know, no one was injured. He was okay and he'll be okay for tomorrow.”

United head to Anfield this midweek hoping to reinvigorate their push for a top-four finish, having beaten Norwich 3-2 on the weekend.

Fernandes played 90 minutes in that game and has contributed nine goals and 14 assists in 40 appearances this season.

Victory over Liverpool will leave the Red Devils level on points with Tottenham in the final Champions League qualification place, having played a game more.
