Bruno Fernandes has held his hands up for a mistake which proved costly for Manchester United in their draw with Leeds United.
The Red Devils fought back to draw 2-2 at Old Trafford, having trailed by two-goals on the hour mark. The visitors scored their opener through Willy Gnonto after Fernandes had been dispossessed on the halfway line, allowing Leeds to break on the United defence.
Fernandes has enjoyed a renaissance this term under Erik ten Hag but sloppy errors have cost his side at times. A lack of defensive awareness against Crystal Palace a few weeks ago eventually led to Casemiro making a cynical foul - which earned him a yellow card and a suspension as a result.
The Brazilian made his frustrations known as he stared in Fernandes' direction with Jamie Redknapp commenting at the time: "He is furious with his team-mate Bruno Fernandes for getting out of the way of the challenge."
The Portuguese star has, once again, cited his own error, which led to the opening goal, detailing post-game: "We’re not happy, obviously, with the result. Our main goal today was to win the game. We didn’t, we get one point, it’s really frustrating because we started the first half and second half really badly, conceding goals in the first few minutes.
"The team had a great reaction, it was a massive reaction and great to see it, but it wasn’t the result we wanted. It was nothing to do with [team] changes, it doesn’t mean anything, in the first few minutes of the game we conceded a goal, I should’ve been stronger in the second duel, I won the first but in the second I should’ve been stronger, they got the ball then they scored a goal.
"After I think we had control of the game, they did nothing, I think we did pretty well, created a lot of chances but not good enough to score the chances. We have to look forward now to the next game, it’s coming quick, it’s them again, away, it will be a big game again but hopefully a different result for us."
United's draw meant they missed the chance to close in on Manchester City, who sit second. Their stalemate means Erik ten Hag has seen his team win just one of their last four games ahead of a return trip to Elland Road this weekend - for which they will be without Casemiro, who is again suspended.
Ten Hag said ahead of their clash in Yorkshire: "We are not playing against the fans [at Elland Road]. You are playing the XI on the pitch. We have to be ready - not like today. We have to learn the lesson."
