Fire and ambulance crews have now left the scene but the road is closed pending collision investigation and recovery of the vehicles. A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "Closures are in place at the junctions of the Long Ashton bypass with the A4174 Colliters Way and with Brunel Way. Traffic can still join Winterstoke Road from Brunel Way but we'd ask people to avoid the area if possible.
"We expect the closures to remain in place for some time and ask people to check before travelling and allow extra time for their journeys. Officers are keen to hear from anyone who saw or has dashcam footage of either vehicle in the moments before the collision. If you can help, please call 101 and give the reference 5222284822 ."
