Browns waive former third round pick after lackluster start to his career

The Cleveland Browns have moved on from former third round pick David Bell, waiving him on Thursday.

Bell, a player who initially made the 53-man roster in Cleveland despite missing the majority of training camp after an injury in the preseason opener against the Green Bay Packers, has not had the career the Browns envisioned when he was the 99th overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft.

Through two seasons with the team, Bell accumulated just 381 yards on 38 catches. After the Browns traded for Jerry Jeudy and drafted Jamari Thrash this offseason, the writing was on the wall a bit for Bell and his prospects with the team.

It is still yet to be seen what the Browns do with the open roster spot. They do have three wide receivers on the practice squad, so signing one of James Proche, Jaelon Darden, or Mike Woods II is an option. A player could also be returning from injury as well.
