The NFL reportedly fined Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett for criticizing officials after Week 14, according to Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot.
Garrett said referees weren’t calling holding penalties against Jacksonville Jaguars’ players who were blocking him and called the officiating “a travesty” after the game.
“It was honestly awful,” Garrett said this past week. “And the fact that they’re letting them get away with hands to the face, holding, false starting. I know they called a couple, but damn, they could have called it all game. And the one that cost us down on the two-yard line. I mean, respect to those guys, it’s a hard job, but hell, we have a hard job as well.”
The Browns only sacked Jaguars Trevor Lawrence once in the 31-27 win. Garrett didn’t register a sack, but he did knock Lawrence down three times on three pressures and tallied a tackle for a loss.
This is Garrett’s first fine of the season, but not the first fine for the Browns. The NFL also fined Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid and quarterback Patrick Mahomes for their criticism of referees this past week.
