Starting 1-0 for the second straight season, the Cleveland Browns made a statement by dismantling the Cincinnati Bengals by a score of 24-3. While the offense sputtered a bit and needs a rebound this week, new defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz had his unit fired up for 60 minutes.
And as a result, he has been recognized as a winner by Touchdown Wire’s Jarrett Bailey:
Buy Browns Tickets“What a performance from the Browns’ defense, and their defensive coordinator in his first game on the job. The Browns held Joe Burrow to a career-low in passing yards, and yielded just three points to a team that has appeared in the last two AFC Championship Games.”
As the Pittsburgh Steelers are next up for Schwartz and the Browns, expect a lot more 12 personnel and runs through the trenches than we saw a week ago. If the Browns can bottle Najee Harris on first and second downs, look out as this unit can once again pin their ears back.
