Brookside fans said "what a time to be alive" after Louis Emerick's announcement.
The 62-year-old is renowned for his role as Mick Johnson in the Merseyside set soap. Louis joined the cast in 1989 and played the character until 2001.
Viewers were overjoyed after it was revealed last week Brookside will make its long-awaited return to our screens. Louis has taken to Twitter to confirm the show has arrived on STV Player today.

Fans flooded the comments with excitement as they can finally tune in to the original batch of Brookside episodes.
