We don’t yet know what the future holds for Sean McVay as he weighs retirement, even if it’s only temporary. With his status in limbo, the Broncos are wasting no time pursuing his top coordinator.
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Broncos are requesting permission to interview Raheem Morris for their head coaching position. Morris is currently the Rams’ defensive coordinator, holding that position for the last two seasons.
The Broncos fired Nathaniel Hackett the day after losing to the Rams, 51-14, on Christmas. So they’re now looking for his replacement, and Morris is expected to be a hot candidate across the NFL this offseason.
More uncertainty for the Rams’ coaching staff: Broncos are requesting permission this morning to interview Rams’ defensive coordinator Raheem Morris for their HC job, per source.

Denver did not interview Morris last year when it was searching for a head coach, but Morris did meet with the Vikings twice. That job went to his former colleague, Kevin O’Connell, who led Minnesota to the playoffs this season.
In the last two years, the Rams ranked 17th and 19th in total yards allowed on defense, while also allowing the 12th-most points in the NFL this season.
