Broncos injury report: Russell Wilson questionable for Week 7

Denver Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson (hamstring) is questionable for Sunday’s game against the New York Jets.

Wilson has been pushing to play and he has said he is a fast healer, jokingly suggesting that his “wolverine blood” helps him recover quickly.

Denver’s staff, though, won’t want Wilson to play through the injury if he’s not ready.

“We want to put somebody out there that’s healthy and can go out there and play at a high level,” coach Nathaniel Hackett said Thursday.

Wilson is the team’s obvious QB1, but the Broncos will not want to risk worsening his injury if Wilson is not cleared to play.

“You don’t want to put anybody out there that isn’t healthy,” Hackett said.

If Wilson is not cleared to play this weekend, Brett Rypien is the most likely candidate to start in his place (Josh Johnson is also available on the practice squad). Rypien helped the Broncos defeat the Jets 37-28 in his first (and only) career start in 2020.

Denver’s complete injury report with game statuses can be seen below.

The Broncos lead the all-time series against the Jets 22-16-1, including a 26-0 victory at home last season. Sunday’s game will air on CBS (TV map).
