Broncos hoping Billy Turner will play ‘whole game’ vs. Seahawks

Before the Denver Broncos released their Week 1 depth chart, coach Nathaniel Hackett seemingly let it slip on Tuesday that Billy Turner is the team’s first-choice option at right tackle.

Turner was sidelined for much of the summer while recovering from a knee injury, but he’s practicing this week and Hackett said Tuesday that the team is hopeful he will play the “whole game” against the Seattle Seahawks on Sept. 12.

“We definitely want him to play the whole game,” Hackett said. “I’ve been in the building for a long time, so I trust that he will let us know if he’s ready to go.”

Elsewhere on the injury front, Broncos outside linebacker Randy Gregory (shoulder) and inside linebacker Jonas Griffith (elbow) have also been practicing this week. Hackett’s hoping to see them get comfortable being back on the field before Monday’s opener.

“Just [wanting to] have all the guys getting comfortable, comfortable in their set,” the coach said. “Billy, particularly, just comfortable in his sets and everything so he’s ready to go. He’s a veteran, so he will know if he’s ready to rock.”

Denver’s final Week 1 injury report will be released on Saturday.
