People who grow their own sprouts should check their broccoli seeds. Three companies have recalled broccoli seeds that trace back to a single supplier lot, W4105, which federal investigators linked to a Salmonella outbreak that has sickened 32 people in six states.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration said a seed sample collected from the supplier tested positive for Salmonella, and whole-genome sequencing matched the bacteria to the outbreak strain, according to the agency's outbreak advisory on Salmonella and sprouts, last updated Oct. 9.
