Britney Spears fan apologises for police call as star slams them for going 'too far'

A Britney Spears fan has issued a heartfelt apology to the star after calling in a welfare check on her.

The move comes after Britney, 41, issued a lengthy statement where she admitted feeling like she is being 'gaslit and bullied' by her fans and hopes they can start to respect her privacy moving forward.

The call for concerns about her safety came after she deleted her Instagram account earlier this week, prompting the well-meaning individual to call for help.

Deputies from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office paid the pop icon a visit at her Thousand Oaks home Tuesday night around 11PM to perform the welfare check as requested.

Now one of the fans responsible for the call has made an emotional apology on TikTok and explained her reasons for making the call.

She said: "Hey everyone I wanted to come on here and make an apology to a lot of people. On January 24th late into Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning around 12.30/1 am a call was made for the welfare check on Britney Spears. I was one of the three creators in that live that called the non-emergency office for the welfare check.

"I want to tell you my intentions were pure but my actions were wrong and I see that now and I am fully regretful for what has happened because of this. I feel very upset that this has upset Britney. At the time I was not thinking straight.

"I thought she was in danger. Like I genuinely thought she was in danger and I genuinely didn't know what to do I had like an instant trauma response and I thought that this was the way to help."

The visibly upset fan then apologised to other fans as she continued: "I see now that that was not the right move and I've crossed a big boundary and for that I am sorry. When the call was made I wasn't even thinking about the past of what has happened to Britney and for that I am sorry.

"I understand where I messed up and I will never, I will never do anything like this again. The first people I want to apologise to are the people that are active in the Free Britney movement right now.

"I understand that my actions could negatively affect the justice for Britney movement as well as the free Britney movement and that was never my intention, but I understand that this could have negative effects."

The fan then completed her apology by addressing Britney directly as she fought back tears visibly struggling to contain her emotions over the matter.

She added: "And this is to Britney, I adore you Britney, and I am so sorry that what I did made you feel uncomfortable, or put you in a situation that might have been re-traumatising for you.

"I was genuinely doing this because I was scared, as a mother, as a daughter, as a friend, as another human being. So I hope that as your fan that you can forgive me."

Their video statement follows Britney taking to Twitter on Thursday night to break her silence on the matter.

The mum-of-two wrote: "As everyone knows the police were called to my home based on some prank phone calls. I love and adore my fans but this time things went a little too far and my privacy was invaded.

"The police never entered my home and when they came to my gate they quickly realized there was no issue and left immediately. This felt like I was being gaslit and bullied once the incident made it to the news and being portrayed once again in a poor and unfair light by the media."

The star concluded with: "During this time in my life, I truly hope the public and my fans who I care so much about can respect my privacy moving forward. All the love, B."
