Britney Spears has announced that she has lost her 'miracle baby'.
The 40-year-old singer shared the "devastating" news on her Instagram earlier today (May 14). She and fiancé Sam Asghari asked for privacy during the difficult time.
The heartbreaking announcement comes just weeks after the excited pop star announced her pregnancy news. Sharing the news on Instagram at the time, she revealed that she was confused after appearing to put on weight after her trip to Maui, prompting her partner to suggest that she could be pregnant.

Today, in a joint statement from her and Sam, Britney wrote: "We are grateful for what we have in the process of expanding our beautiful family. Thank you for your support."
She added: "It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that we have lost our miracle baby early in the pregnancy. This is a devastating time for any parent."
"Perhaps we should have waited to announce until we were further along. However we were overly excited to share the good news.
"Our love for each other is our strength. We will continue trying to expand our beautiful family. We are grateful for all of your support. We kindly ask for privacy during this difficult moment."
The singer is already a doting mum to teenage sons Sean, 16, and Jayden, 15, with ex-husband Kevin Federline and has been open about her desire to add to her family. Britney's pregnancy announcement in April came after her controversial 13-year conservatorship was terminated in November 2021 - leaving her free to take control of her own reproductive choices.
