The owners of a Bristol kebab house featured on BBC Two's Britain's Top Takeaways this week have spoken of their happiness despite not winning. Hoba Kebab on St Augustine's Parade, run by Annie Faulkner and Hope Bainbridge, was one of the five top British kebab houses put through their paces on Wednesday night's (May 18) episode of the culinary competition show.
Hope and Annie flew the foodie flag for Bristol with their Berlin-inspired kebabs, and served judges with their Flamin' Chicken, Spicy Beef, and Vegan Stack offerings, all three of which, like their other kebabs, are served in Turkish pide bread and topped with crushed peanuts and tahini. Despite earning praise for their 'full of flavour' kebabs from judges and putting loads of effort into their dishes, Hoba Kebab came third.
Despite not winning, Annie says that she and Hope are 'really happy'. The show could not have come at a better time for the couple, who only moved Hoba into its permanent residence in March of this year, after surfing between markets, festivals, events, and Kong's.
