Britain's Got Talent's Axel Blake makes career admission after Golden Buzzer controversy

Axel Blake has made a big admission on his career and one of his most memorable gigs to date after some Britain's Got Talent viewers hit out at him getting the Golden Buzzer from Simon Cowell.

Just 24 hours after there was uproar about Amanda Holden's pick for Golden Buzzer, Loren Allred, given that she is the vocalist on Never Enough, one of the most famous songs from hit film The Greatest Showman; comedian Axel was seen auditioning for the judges during Sunday night's second episode of the ITV show's new series. He entertained the panel with an array of jokes, touching on everything from the coronavirus pandemic, becoming a dad and the joy he gets from using a contactless bank card.

The Britain's Got Talent judges couldn't get enough of Axel, with Simon loving him so much that he reached over and hit his Golden Buzzer for him. The former X Factor head honcho told Axel he was exactly the kind of act the show needed after 'everything everyone's been through over the last few years." But some fans of the show was far less enamoured with Simon's decision to send Axel straight through to the semi finals, having found out that he had his own TV show on Amazon Prime.

Twelve after his Britain's Got Talent audition aired, Axel appeared on Good Morning Britain, where he faced questions from hosts Adil Ray and Kate Garraway. At the start of the interview, Adil said: “You’ve been funny for a while now and doing a lot of funny stuff. Tell us how your career has been so far. Where have you played?”

Axel replied: “I’ve been doing it for a few years, so I’ve been doing a lot of small gigs around the UK and further places I don’t even know how to get to now." And it was then that Axel opened up about one of his most memorable gigs of his career to date - getting to perform at 02 Indigo, the smaller venue at London's famous O2 Arena.

On hearing that, Kate replied: "Lots of things to help build up, but nothing that can take you to that big platform, which is I guess why you decided to do Britain’s Got Talent.”
