Ant and Dec have been backed by viewers over their decision to hit the Golden Buzzer for the final act on Saturday night's Britain's Got Talent.
A very eager Bruno Tonioli, who had been fooled by thinking he could have more than one Golden Buzzer, was first to hit his this year, before Simon Cowell also put an act straight through to the semis, during the new series' launch weekend last month. Alesha Dixon then used hers to give Chicken Shed theatre group a guaranteed place in the 2023 live shows, before Amanda Holden did the same, having been bowled over by young singer Olivia Lynes last weekend.
That left just Ant and Dec to make their choice, having previously picked the Britain's Got Talent winner two years ago, when their Golden Buzzer act, Jon Courtenay, triumphed in the final.
And their choice this time was French entertainer MB14, who impressed everyone with a performance of music made entirely from the loop pedal he brought on stage with him, having told the judges: "Basically, all you're about to hear is made with my voice, so I hope you like it."
Having heard that, Bruno shouted: "Show us what you got" and MB14 certainly did that, with a stunned Ant and Dec massively entertained as they watched on from the wings.
In fact, they were so impressed, they swiftly stormed the stage when he finished to run down and hit their Golden Buzzer, with Ant remarking: "We liked him, we liked him a lot!"
Reacting to their choice, one viewer tweeted: "WOW!!!!! MB14 is amazing. Definitely deserved the Golden Buzzer especially from Ant & Dec. You were phenomenal. See you in the live shows," with a second posting: "this is what you call talent !! the judges/ant&dec have made the best choices for golden buzzers this year i am impressed, this will be one tough semi final."
